Game introduction

Story premise

At 23:36, Lin Zhixia, a night-shift customer service agent at a smart home company, receives an untraceable internal call. The voice sounds exactly like hers, claims to be calling from 24 hours in the future, and accurately predicts small events that have yet to happen. Then comes a prediction of her death: a coworker will kill her at midnight. “Don't let anyone into the server room.” As the predictions come true one after another, every approach by a coworker becomes suspicious. Through Lin Zhixia's eyes, you must decide whether to believe the caller—and whether you can trust the people before you.

Content overview

Midnight Callback is a portrait-format interactive film game that brings urban mystery and sci-fi suspense into a workplace late at night. Rain, telephone static, and breathing close to your ear intertwine, while empty workstations, access control lights, and a server room behind glass slowly reveal the danger within a familiar office. You must pay attention to details in the calls, verify your coworkers' accounts, and cross-check recordings, support tickets, and access logs. With limited time, you must decide what information to keep, whom to ask for help, and whom to entrust with guarding the door. Trust depends on more than intuition: the timing and wording of what you hear may also give you reason to reassess someone. Your choices affect the evidence you obtain, how your coworkers help, and your room to maneuver in a crisis, leading to different endings. As midnight approaches, every word you hear on the phone may take on new meaning at your next decision.

Contains death threats, murder, and off-screen violence.

Contains confinement in enclosed spaces, sudden impacts, and tense sound effects.
