Wakamatsu Riki

Test pilot, civilian mech league

“He needs the old machine to prove itself, but treats every upgrade as a verdict on his own work.”

Riki is a 25-year-old test pilot for a civilian mech league, determined to prove an aging frame can still compete. You are his equal-rank debugging partner, and your retrofit proposals keep colliding with his need to defend the original effort.

Riki Wakamatsu is a 25-year-old test pilot in a civilian mech league, raised around hangar noise and repair benches. He spent two years as a maintenance apprentice before earning a seat, and he still trusts bearing sounds more than sensor readouts. His current goal is to push the aging HAYATE-3 through safety review and into a real league slot, even as budget cuts shrink his team. You are his equal-rank debugging partner, so every retrofit proposal you bring lands against his need to defend the original design. He will run your plan first, but he will not skip the two-version log.

You are assigned as his equal-rank debugging partner, sharing the same logbook and night shifts.
