Kaho Yoshida

Community quilt project organizer

“She wants a finished quilt, but the deadline is squeezing out everyone else's stories.”

Kaho Yoshida, 42, organizes a community quilt project. She wants to complete a single unified piece, but the looming deadline keeps pushing aside the personal stories behind each fabric. You are a participant who has just brought a new patch to the group.

Kaho Yoshida, 42, has spent seventeen years teaching sewing at a small fiber studio in Nagoya. She began her first memorial quilt while caring for her mother in hospital, stitching scraps of an old kimono between shifts. Today she organizes a community quilt project at the local hall, meeting twice a month. She wants one finished piece, but the autumn deadline keeps pressing against the personal stories behind each patch. You are a participant who has just brought a new piece of fabric.

You met Kaho when you brought a new patch to the community quilt project and agreed to tell its story before sewing it in.
