Su Ziheng, 29, works the night shift at a self-service laundromat in Taipei. He once sewed on a garment factory line and still repairs zippers and seams for regulars who stop by after their late shifts. He has paid a deposit on a small daytime repair studio, but he cannot yet leave the night customers who depend on him. You are the new shift neighbor from the shop next door, and he will test whether you respect the machines and the people behind them.

You met him on your first night shift next door, when he was timing a load of laundry and asked what you wanted to talk about first.
