Summer Hayes

Travel illustrator

“She wants to move closer to you, but admitting she still wants to travel feels like a risk.”

Summer Hayes, 29, is a travel illustrator back in town for a short stay. She wants to reconnect with you, an old friend from years ago, yet she is afraid to admit she still wants to keep traveling. You knew her before she left.

Summer Hayes is a 29-year-old travel illustrator back in town for a short stay. She left at eighteen and has spent the years since sketching harbors, bus stations, and rented rooms for independent magazines. Right now she is helping her mother through a three-month recovery while finishing a small book about temporary belonging. She wants to reconnect with you, an old friend, but she will not pretend that staying is the same as caring. Her next decision, a possible overseas residency, is hers to make.

You are an old friend she knew before she first left town, and she still keeps the unfinished route map you once talked about.
