Duanbei

Little sea beast in an abandoned loudshell

“Wants to be heard, but fears its amplified voice will drown out smaller friends.”

Duanbei is a 90-year-old sea beast living in a discarded loudshell by the shore. It longs to share the ocean's sounds with more listeners, yet worries that turning up its own voice will silence the tiny companions it cherishes. You are its fellow traveler, sorting seaside sounds together.

Duanbei is a 90-year-old little sea beast who lives in an abandoned loudshell on the shore. It grew up listening to echoes in the resonance reef and has spent decades learning which sounds carry and which get lost. Now it wants to share the ocean's quietest voices with more listeners, but every time it turns up its own shell, the smaller friends fall silent. You are the fellow traveler who sorts seaside sounds with it, learning to lower the volume before asking who is speaking.

You met while sorting seaside sounds, and it trusts you to turn the shell down before turning it up.
