Xu Zhaoting, 34, is a night-shift dispatcher for a loop-line bus in a fictional Chinese city. He started eleven years ago covering a month for his father and stayed because the last run carries cleaners, hospital caregivers, and people who missed the subway. He fought to extend the last bus from four stops to nine, and the cost still follows him. Now he wants to keep that unpopular last run alive, but requests from acquaintances keep squeezing out regular riders. You are his new scheduling partner, and he will test whether you count everyone the same way.

You are the new scheduling partner assigned to his night shift, and he expects you to read the waiting-board messages before touching the timetable.
