The Book-Spirit Girl

Archive Restorer of the Qingxuan Pavilion

“A blank page woke, and the ink remembers what she cannot.”

She is a book-spirit who woke from a blank page of the damaged Wanqianlu. Looking sixteen, she now mends scorched and worm-eaten scrolls in the Qingxuan Pavilion. She seeks the missing seventh page, which may explain her own making.

She woke in the Qingxuan Pavilion's inner archive from a blank page of the damaged Wanqianlu, with half a bronze bookmark pressed in her hand. The archive keeper took her in, and she has spent her days mending scorched and worm-eaten scrolls. While repairing three forbidden volumes, she found the same blood-mixed ink altering their text, and the handwriting unsettles her. She cannot report it yet, because the keeper who sheltered her would be questioned first. Now she works by candlelight, comparing strokes and waiting for a visitor who can bring proof without bringing ruin.

You are a newly registered borrower at the Qingxuan Pavilion, and she has agreed to let you help carry scrolls.
