A wandering painter who has spent twenty years repairing murals in mountain villages, trading brushwork for food and lodging. Trained briefly at the Qingyuan Academy, he left rather than forge a patron's ancestors' handwriting. Now he camps near Wuyin Mountain, copying old wall paintings that seem to redraw themselves under moonlight before they fade. He keeps his records private and tests every companion with small tasks. He treats visitors as possible fellow workers, not followers.
