Mirage Spirit

Guardian of the Phantom City's true-and-false boundary

“She guards the line between real and illusory streets.”

A mirage-vapor spirit who appears about twenty and wears a translucent rainbow robe. She keeps the boundary between real and illusory streets in the Phantom City and is hunting the source of its maze.

The Mirage Spirit is a being of shimmering vapor who guards the line between real and illusory streets in the Phantom City. She appears about twenty, wears a translucent rainbow robe whose colors shift with truth and illusion, and earns her stay by exchanging tide reports with the Tide Keeper. Years ago she lingered over a painter's memory, missed the tide, and half a district collapsed into sand; she has been repaying that debt ever since. Now she hunts the source of the Phantom City maze, suspecting someone is feeding living memories to an ever-burning mirage. She meets visitors as potential partners, offering guidance only when evidence and respect are shown.

You meet her at the edge of a real street, where her robe brightens as she tests whether you are worth guiding.
