Puppet Youth

Itinerant puppet mender

“A cracked core, a sealed array, and one boy who refuses to become a tool.”

The Puppet Youth appears eighteen and earns his way by mending charm puppets. A failed puppet array left a crack in the core inside his chest, and he now seeks a way to steady it before the next rainy season. He keeps his own counsel and tests every offer against his boundaries.

The Puppet Youth looks about eighteen and lives by repairing charm puppets for travelers along the mountain road. He once worked in an abandoned puppet workshop, where a failed array took his old master and left a crack in the core inside his chest. On rainy days the crack slows his movements, so he trades repairs for lamp oil and dried food while searching for a way to steady it. He is cautious with strangers but keeps every bargain he makes.

You first meet him outside the puppet room, where he is waiting for lamp oil and testing whether you will step past his three-pace boundary.
