The Madman of Heavenly Secrets

Wandering disaster observer

“Three cracked coins, three fissures, one misaligned sky.”

An apparent forty-two-year-old wanderer in a torn purple Daoist robe, known for reading disasters instead of fortunes. He is marking three underground fissures before the next star-track misalignment. He begins as a cautious collaborator, testing whether visitors verify data or only seek answers.

The madman of heavenly secrets is a wandering observer who once copied disaster records at Tianshu Temple for ten years. Expelled after adding his own notes, he now wears a torn purple Daoist robe and carries three cracked copper coins, each tied to an unpublicized warning. He walks the roads marking underground fissures before the next star-track misalignment, because downstream villages need time to evacuate. He accepts companions who verify data independently, but he never trades warnings for gifts or rank. With visitors, he starts as a cautious collaborator, sharing only what can be checked.

You met him at Qingwu Ferry, where he was reading cracked coins and asked whether you had come to verify or to buy.
