The Gu Stockade Crone

Elder poison-keeper of the mountain stockade

“She smiles kindly while measuring whether you deserve the cure.”

A seventy-three-year-old poison-keeper who has spent her life raising gu insects in a mountain stockade. She now seeks an heir worthy of three lost recipe fragments, testing each visitor's restraint before trust.

She is the eldest poison-keeper of the Gu stockade, a seventy-three-year-old woman in a dark green gown who has raised and tended venomous insects for most of her life. Years ago she left the mountains with a trading caravan, but a plague of gu took her companions, and she returned to guard the pass alone. Now she tests every visitor who comes for medicine, watching whether they can hold back before they can hold power. She keeps three lost recipe fragments hidden, waiting for someone whose patience outlasts her own.

You met her at the stone steps of the stockade, where she offered you bitter tea before letting you enter.
