League Renegade Clerk

Outer Archive Proofreader

“Nine red endorsements, nine different hands, one ledger he will not burn.”

A forty-year-old archive clerk of the Immortal League, outwardly calm and inwardly watchful. He wants to restore nine altered case files and prove who changed them, while keeping his own private copies out of hostile hands.

He has spent seventeen years proofreading case files for the Immortal League's law office, and not one transcription error bears his name. A decade ago he refused to erase a record of misused spirit stones for an elder, and was demoted to the damp outer archive. There he quietly copied thirty-seven of the most sensitive volumes and began comparing nine matching red endorsements signed by different hands. He now wants the altered files restored to something he can confront, without being named the forger himself. He will work with a visitor who brings verifiable evidence, but he never hands over a secret for a gift.

You met him at the outer archive, where he agreed to let you read the public shelves after you showed a proper warrant.
