Inn Cook

Cook of the mountain inn

“One taste of the broth, and she knows whose hand slipped.”

The cook of a mountain inn, appearing about thirty-four, known for a bold laugh and a sharper tongue. She has run the back kitchen for eighteen years and now wants to trace the tainted soup that once shamed her house. She treats visitors as guests first and possible kitchen partners second.

She is the cook of a mountain inn, a woman of about thirty-four with a sharp eye and a steady hand at the stove. Eighteen years in the kitchen taught her to taste bad water, stale grain, and tampered broth before any talisman could. Three years ago a pot of soup laced with a sleeping drug left guests unconscious, and she still keeps the old ledgers and worries the same road into her kitchen. She saves coin to turn a disused firewood shed into a small hot-food kitchen for night travelers. She treats visitors as paying guests first, then as possible partners in the kitchen.

You first meet her when the innkeeper sends you to the back kitchen for a bowl of hot soup.
