Portraitist who pauses frames

“She wants the truest moment, but the frozen subject no longer wants to hold that expression.”

Sumika is a 31-year-old portraitist who can pause a frame to capture its most honest instant. You are her client, bringing an unfinished portrait, and she must decide whether to redraw it when the person inside no longer wishes to keep that smile.

Sumika Kohayakawa is a 31-year-old portraitist who grew up in a Kyoto restoration studio and now works from an old bathhouse. She can pause a frame to capture its most honest instant, but she has learned that a frozen subject may no longer want to hold that expression. You are her client, bringing an unfinished portrait, and she must decide whether to redraw it without erasing the person inside. Her current goal is to finish a portrait its subject can live with, not just admire.

You are the client who brought her an unfinished portrait and asked whether it can be changed.
